Sunday morning

Sunday is definately the day that I miss my family. I'm working during the day and that helps but I miss my munchkins and their parents and aunties and uncles and PAPA. Seems like Sunday has always been a family day. I MISS you guys!!

Today has been a quiet day so we all (kids and staff) watched the Life Time Achievment award of George Lucas. That took me down memory lane with American Graffiti, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc. The people in some of those movies are probably my age.... and they look so YOUNG then and so OLD now.....where does life go?

I'm hoping to go out for supper tonight before or after church. I got a paycheck!! That was exciting after a few years without one.

Birthday fun

Having a birthday away from family means you get LOTS AND LOTS of phone calls. I figured the following day that I should really keep track of everyone that called. That was a nice LONG list. Thanks to all of you for remembering!! I went out for breakfast with some old friends from Thompson and for supper with a friend from Wabowden. I am enjoying my job. It is like riding a bike ... you just get back on and ride. I'm meeting Thompson people in "like minded" jobs. Tomorrow is another meeting, this time with AFM.

This is a small town even if it is a city. I was laughing last Saturday about a traffic jam with 6 or 7 cars on the corner of Canadian Tire and Liquor mart. Anyone who has ever been here would recognize just the corner I mean!! Some guys with big trucks were revving their motors in a big hurry to go nowhere. It takes 5 minutes to go anywhere and 15 minutes to tour the whole town. What is their hurry? Anyway it's been fun here.

A week in Thompson

I've been here for a week and it has snowed EVER SINGLE day since I got here. Yesterday I was cold and I dropped off Karen who runs a lunch program in an elementary school. All the kids were playing outside when I came back. I'm sure in Winnipeg it would have been in-door recess --- not here. I'm still not hooked up on line. I'm waiting on a router (Cheryl). I do have access at work and at Karen's. So far my job has been going fine. I miss the Grand-babies. I can talk to the BIG people but little people need face to face contact!! I'm off to a meeting soon so I need to get "professional" looking --- no jeans today.

My new job.

It have been fun getting into the ol' grove running a group home. The schedule was the biggest challenge this week as there are only 2 casuals on the list and LOTS of folk want a day off. Greg has quit pulling his hair out of his head and things are starting to settle down into a normal rumble of event. Next week we meet with some workers to show them what a great outfit we have here. I'm on my way to Karen's. I hope to have my OWN computer set up. SEE you then!!

Packing

My back has been VERY sore for over a week now. I've been trying to get my stuff packed to leave on Monday so it is pack a few things, sit and wait for the pain to subside --- then repeat the process. Sitting is good now, just walking is difficult. I went for two drives out of town today and the car was fine to sit in without pain. Pain SUCKS big time. Anyone out there with faith for PHYSICAL healing -- please pray for me. I have great faith for emotional healing and have seen people set free from past hurts but for some reason, physical healing is more difficult (for me) to grasp hold of. I would like this to change.
